Im looking into getting a new router.

My Budget is around £50-150, im using sky broadband. 3 computers connected wirelessly USB.

What are my best options.

Im using Belkin networking adapters by the way.

It doesn't matter what brand you use just as long as they are all compatible with each other, such wireless A/B/G/N. Most common right now is wireless G. I've always recommended Linksys, WRT54GL

I would go either Belkin or linskys and make it wireless N because thats what has worked the best for me but any thing will work really B is good to that is what I have in my room

Like the other guys said, it is all up to you. There are many choices out there. You seem to have a fairly high budget so maybe wireless N router could be a good choice...Wireless N offers better range and exceptional speeds. However, the farther you go away from the router, the slower speeds you get. Wireless N boasts speeds of up to 400mbps (in contrast, ethernet wire is only 100) but that is simply theoretical. Practically, you will get about 133 mbps within a normal range of the router.

Also, with N routers they are backwards compatible to G (and usually B). You say you already have adapters, I assume they will be G adapters. This means you will not be able to connect to wireless N signal, but your router will downgrade to G. Having an N router will always leave room for future upgrade of your adapters though.

Will upgrading to N make my internet faster?

When i have my xbox live and my brothers ps3 network and my internet going all at once it gets a little laggy.

I usually have a speed of around 5mbps and i know this will be shared for people using the internet, but will N handle the load better?

No speculation please.

No!! It will absolutely NOT make your internet faster. Wireless N will first of all NOT do anything for your wired speeds at all, and wireless it only improves the speed of the connection TO THE ROUTER. If you wanted to share files between two people using wireless N on one router it would be faster.

Internet however will not be faster. The internet you pay for is nowhere near the potential even for wireless G intranet. You probably have broadband at around 1-10mbps or so. Wireless G is 54mbps, Wired is 100, Wireless N is around 400mbps (theoretically only...practically its lower).

So you see your internet will not be fast enough for any wireless standard to make a difference.

Hm but wont the increased signal strength make a difference too, and the speed at which it gos from my router to my computer?

ive got 5 wireless modem routers and 1 wireless router

2x netgear (1 wireless router other wireless modem router)
2x belkin
2x speed touch

you know what is funny, i dont have 1 dam thing that connects usig wireless lol

i would sell you one if your interested, i also have a one that connets to your existing router to give it wireless capabilitys.

the other 5 are wireless modem routers

none are originaly boxed, think i have the drivers for the 2 netgear

Yup....but the reason for your lag is because of a lack of internet, not a lack of connectivity from the PC to Router.

You asked: "Will upgrading to N make my internet faster?" and it will not. It will do nothing for lag in your games because the lag is a result of the internet being used up. If you want to get rid of your lag, upgrade your internet;)
