S Straps Member Jan 5, 2014 #1 I was looking to change the startup sound on my computer and couldn't quite figure out how. I went to the sounds cat. under control panel and saw there about startup sound but when I added a file it didn't work, any suggestions?

voyagerfan99 Master of Turning Things Off and Back On Again Staff member Jan 5, 2014 #2 If you're talking about Vista, 7, or 8, you can't change the specific startup sound, but you can change the logon sound. It needs to be in WAV format.

voyagerfan99 Master of Turning Things Off and Back On Again Staff member Jan 6, 2014 #4 When I say startup sound, I mean this one: [ut]qnuTAa8LQiA[/ut] You can disable it (by unticking "Play Startup Sound" under the Sounds tab), but not change it. The logon sound is the little "ding ding" you hear after that. You can change that sound.
