New system hangs at verifying dmi

I just built a new system with old parts.

It has an EVGA 600w 80 plus PSU
ma770-ud3 MOBO
MSI Nvidia Geforce gtx 570 Twin frozr ii GPU
AMD athlon x2 2.7GHZ
2 2gb of Corsiar Ram DDR2
2 1gb of Corsiar Ram DDR2

The system will work with one hard drive that has windows 8. It was on this motherboard a long time ago.
The hard drive im trying to put in it has windows 8 and is coming out of an HP p2-1394 tower, but it always hangs on verifying DMI pool data. The drive still works in the hp i know that for a fact as i am typing this on it.

Why would it work on one system but not the other.

Boot priority is correct, no loose cables, im pretty sure the boot files are fine(unless it needs specific files for the bios)

is it possible the hp hard drive is locked to the one tower?
 
You can't boot to the drive that came out of the HP due to different hardware. If you are using this as a storage drive then there shouldn't be any issues.
 
Ok so in a since it is locked to the HP tower. Is there anyway i could use it as my main drive again without wiping it or is it storage only?
 
You would have to wipe it and reinstall windows on it in order to use it as a main drive. You would just have to wipe it if you want to use it as a storage drive.
 
I was hoping there was a way around it and not ha e to redownload all those games. Thanks for clearing up this problem of mine.
