New System - Right speaker really quiet

I just brought a new subwoofer and speaker system (Creative Inspire t2900) and the speaker I plug into to right jack is abnormally quiet. The only way to get noise out of it is to crank to balance all the way over to the right and turn the volume all the way up. Even then you can hardly hear it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is the system stuffed?

What happens if you switch the two speakers? The sound card's volume settings are ok?

The sound only comes out of the speaker that is plugged into the left jack.

Yep, all volume and balance settings are OK - everything worked fine with my old speakers

Is the system stuffed?

Try it on a cd-player or something to rule out the possibility of the soundcard

Thanks all for your advice. I found the problem and it was the faulity cord. Lucky i had one left from my old speakers .
