hi there,

I have just recently built a new machine as a replacement for my old computer.

the specs are as follows. ,

asus m2v motherboard running a amd duel core 4200 cpu ,
1x 2gb pc2 ddr2 6400 (800mhz) sdram
1x 500gb pc2 ddr2 6400(800mhz sdram,
nvidia gforce 8600 graphics card
500gb sata drive (master)
320 gb ide drive (slave)
500w power supply (icute)

when i built it up and powerd it up there was no beeps and my termpreture readout was steady on my case monitor.

i had nothing on me screen my keyboard did not work (usb).
my ps2 mouse lit up but did not opperate to change my screen from standyby mode.

i took the machine to a friends we rebuilt the machine. and it started beeping. it was like a constent beep and it powerd down

after awhile we had stopped it from powering down. But we could not stop it from beeping or get the machine to boot so we could enter bios. and prepare for windows instalation.

the power pack went with a pop fusing a lead we left it for awhile and tried another lead on it again and the power pack went bang that time with a blue flash

would a new powerpack solve the problam or would i need a new board and a new power pack

i am on a tight budget and i need a running pc so any help would be appreachated thank you.

first time i have ever used a forum so serious replys only please as i dont i can not afford to waste time and money

many thanks again.

Sounds like your PSU blew up on you. The amout you had was fine, but the brand, that was a problem. What you need to do first, is get a new PSU. Get somthing like thermal take, corsiar, HEC, silverstone, one of those. One with at least 4 star/egg(if you get it from newegg) rating. If your computer STILL does not work, new mobo. Chances are that when the PSU blew up, it fried your entire computer, which is why you ALWAYS need to get a good one. Anyways, after you get a new mobo, try again. If still not working, new CPU, followed by RAM (if its not working). When you have a new PSU mobo cpu and ram, it should boot up. If you get no video signal, try a different card. I know you said your on a tight budget, trust me, I know what you feel like, but ti is just the way it is. Just remeber for the future: ALWAYS GET QUALITY PSU!

Hope it works man.

hi there,

i know the power pack blow up and the amount i had was fine . But what i would like to know is what caused the power pack to blow. and why i was getting beeps from bios.

when everything was connected up right.

It was probably just a result of a low quality PSU.
