New to Laptop World

Hi all,
I am new to the laptop stuffs but I've been building computers for years now (desktops).
I currently have a tablet PC (Toshiba), which is required for my school but it's a complete junk. So I decided to get the real laptop that's useful.

I will be using it to play WoW, CFD, Unigraphics (CAD), and other bunch of programs.

That's my original post and I was thinking of going for desktop but I am leaning toward laptop depending on what kind of responses I get based on what I will be doing.

If I go for the laptop route, I will use separate monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc and I won't be physically using the computer itself. (I hope it makes some sense).

Though I am not going for 15" monitor...I will definately go for the biggest.

I am planning on purchasing within a month if not within a week.
Thank you! :D

Ok, seems like I am too newb to get any response so I did some research on Asus.

First of all, I am guessing G71 line up is superior over any other ASUS laptop, any comfirmation? Even if so, is it an overkill? Should I be going for G2S instead?

G71s

I looked at these three and found out that top one is cheaper and has better graphics card (Top one is GT and other two are GS). But according to ASUS website, they have NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT, 512MB VRAM DDR3 x 2 (SLi) and everything is underspeced. Anyone have any idea why?

G2S

Can't configure at the moment but like to get some input on this one as well, if you got any.

Sagers

This is quite tempting as well...

I'd really appreciate if someone can give me some inputs.
Thanks!
