New to PC building with a problem

I recently finished my first gaming PC build, and I feel as though I overbuilt so that I wouldn't have to upgrade as quickly. Here lies my problem though I was playing GTA 4 with some of my friends and I just had the game auto setup my graphics settings because I was lazy and figured my PC could handle it. They all went to very high or just high and I experienced lag issues but when i set it to just high on everything and bring the resolution down from 60hz to 30hz (I believe those are right numbers) then the game runs fine. But my computer will also lag just doing normal things like typing or moving my cursor around on the internet browser. If you can think of any reason my PC couldn't handle these things or why my mouse and keyboard are lagging then please let me know.

Here is what is in my PC:

Intel 4770k running at 3.5GHz with a water cooler
MSI Z87-G45 gaming motherboard
G.Skill 8gb (2x4gb) RAM
GeForce GTX 660 2GB
700 Watt power supply
running windows 8

I'm running a Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo (1 usb plug for both items)

Hi mate

Welcome to CF.

So you built this yourself?

Did you ensure you installed all you motherboard chipset drivers. This is the common noob mistake (no offence)...

  1. Go here and download this and install it.
  2. Restart
  3. Download and install this: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/rapid_storage_technology_7s.zip
  4. Download and install this: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_rst.zip
  5. Download and install this: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_sct.zip
  6. Restart
  7. Go here and download everything that comes up (dont install yet): http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
  8. When you've finished downloading all of those (if any) then install one by one, restarting after each.
  9. After the final restart, go here and make sure you have the latest drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
  10. Restart once installed.
  11. I would also ensure you have the latest motherboard BIOS. The latest came out 2 weeks ago. http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/7821v18.zip Use these instructions.
  12. Update Direct X
  13. Update Windows.
  14. Restart

Post results. Have a look in Device Manager and report any yellow or red symbols.

I got these results from Intel's website and i assume this means there were no missing pieces? Then I got the following error when I tried to download the Intel RST file, and the Intel SCT would pop up and ask for permission and I would allow it then nothing seemed to happen (is that what it is supposed to do?) and lastly when I try to run BIOS update it says that the app cant be run on my PC.

What should I do to try and fix these issues?

Ok so something is definitely up.

Could you install the intel chipset driver update utility at 1?

In the meantime open command prompt as an administrator and type (with spaces)

sfc /scannow

let it finish

Restart and try the chipset utility once more.
