New to the scene

Hey everyone! Im new to overclocking, not new to Comps though. I have a few questions before I begin my research into FAQ's and other sources of info.

1. What is the best way of getting your CPU to 100% usage and keep it there for a few minutes? I want to check my new Cooling and I already know the idle (37C), avrage usage (43C), but not the highest.

2. For heatpipe technology the best way to place a fan is for it to blow air through the radiator?

3. Will placing a second fan on the CPU radiator and setting one for BLOW and the other for SUCK improve the cooling in a VERY SIGNIFICANT way?

4. The program MBM when I try to launch it my comp beeps like crazy and reboots. Is this connected with the fact that I have Abit EQ on at the same time? When I turned Abit EQ off it was the same. I will check on the program site for more info on this.

Thanks for the help ;)

the best way i can think of is to encode a large video and set the process to real time

For a heat pipe you want the air to blow through the radiator/fins on the heatsink not over the pipes. A second fan pulling air away will help but not a whole lot.

Hehe for breakin tests, do a bit more than a few minutes hehe try 15minutes Prime95 torture test as a baseline :)

Depends on the fans ... take something like the Tt tower112 ... pack two volcano12 fans in there it'll make a difference :)

Sounds good... the only thing is that my Power unti is rather large and I cant fit another fan on top without taking the power out of the case entirely...

There are low profile fans and also you can opt to mount the fan on the outside to pull rather than on the inside to push :)

Well i'm getting a new Akasa Midi-ATX UV re-active case which should have enough room for all my new toys ;) I also am thinking about playing with the Peltier Module but for that summer needs to swing aound so i will have more time ;D
