new vid card for my hp

hi im new to the forums. i have a hp 520 series that i want to upgrade. but the main problem is the video card. i can hardly play any games on it. so if you can suggest a good video card for playing games like flight sim, world of warcraft and such that would be great. im looking to spend like around $130 ish. also would getting direct x on my comp help. can u show me where i can get a free download. thanks!
 
hey, welcome the the forums. If you wanna spend around $130, then the PNY 8800GT is on newegg for about $110+shipping. It is a very good card and it would be able to max out your games. For the directx, most games that need it will give you a link to where you can get it I believe, but if not, then you can get it free here->http://www.brothersoft.com/directx-61471.html. Have fun!
 
First we'll need to see the rest of your computer specs. Especially your power supply, as it may not be sufficient for a video card upgrade. Please post of link of your exact desktop.
 
no its a desktop. idk if there is a link i can give u some basic info.

Athlon XP? Now that computer is old. What games are you trying to play? It ain't going to run any recent games at all no matter how good video card you get, and chances are the best yo can get is an AGP video card. If you're playing some older games (2/3+ years) then an upgrade may be a viable option, otherwise you'll need to get a new computer.
