New video card (HD 5770)= Blue screen at boot (whilst "Loading Windows")

Hi. I recently purchased a second hand card and have just installed it in my computer. First I uninstalled the Catalyst Control Center from my integrated graphics, and installed the card (XFX HD5770).

When I first booted it started up fine, the screen resolution was rubbish as I hadn't installed the newest drivers etc. So I did that, rebooted as prompted and then I got the blue screen, with the following error:

STOP 0x0000007F (0x00000006, 0x80003750, 0x00000000, 0x000000000)

I tried a couple of times and the same thing happened.

I then removed the card and plugged the monitor back into the integrated graphics. When I turned on the computer the resolution was back to how I had it (eg optimum, 1650 x 1080). Does this mean the old CCC is not removed correctly, or was the newer CCC able to detect the correct settings automatically?

My specs are:

Phenom II X4 945
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
4GB DDR3
Antec Earthwatts 500w (with 2x 12V @22A each)
Windows 7 HP 32bit

I can't access the latest drivers at the mo from the XFX website as when I clicked register without serial number (already registered) the websote had some server error, so I was just using the ones on the original disc that came with the graphics card.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Doug.

Go to start > Control Panel > programs and features, and uninstall CCC if it is in there. Once that is done, download, install and run driver sweeper and let it remove residue of the drivers:

Download the latest drivers from here:

I should point out that there are some known issues with the latest drivers with the 58xx series cards, I'm not sure if they are there on the 57xx cards too though, so you may want to try older drivers as well
