New Video Cards that share RAM

Good day kind people,

I have been doing a bunch of searching and cannot seem to be looking in the correct spots. My searching skillz are lame.
Could someone tell me where to look or, Why cards are coming with half the RAM they claim and using system RAM to make up the difference.

According to some of but not all the reviews on the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 750Ti 4GB WINDFORCE 2X OC EDITION only has 2 gigs.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thank you for all of your help in this matter

Plenty of lower end cards have been doing this for a while. You can advertise 'moar RAM' without having to invest in providing more onto the board, but they perform like garbage.

Well i made a mistake. I purchased a GTX 750 Ti with 4 gigs of RAM. Now i have to send it back at a loss. THis sucks.
But, not much i can do other then do more research and buy a better card :(

Depends what your needs are.. the 750TI is a decent card as it is. I use one in my 2nd machine and you can play games with it.

It isn't a bad card. But, i already have a GTX 560 Ti with 2 gigs of ram and it works great. I assumed (incorrectly) That this would be an upgrade. But it is not enough of an upgrade for me. so mistakes are made, i am mad but still alive, so sending it back and finding something on sale later.

To get a decent upgrade from the 560, you are looking at the 960 or 970. Unless you want to go with AMD which would be cheaper.

I have had both in my time as a builder. My board recommends the Nvidia brand. So i am sticking with it for now.
The 560 is a sweet card. i picked it up from a friend. He upgraded to a 970 or 980 either way he wanted to be VR ready and is.
As for me i paid $50 for my current card because it was collecting dust on a shelf. I went from a Radeon 5550 to the GTX 560 Ti.

it was like Night and Day

And for $50 i couldn't say no

 You couldn't say no to $50? Did you know that is the market value of the card? I sold a (significantly more powerful) 580 several months ago for about that much. Your friend really should have given you a better price.

OKay, when i looked it up brand new, it was still a $200+ card.
I wasn't apart of this community then. So my bad :(

Now i know, And knowing is half the battle
