Hello All

anybody knows if different wireless network cards have different surfing speed? I have an Asus a8jc series, and I have noticed that my wireless surfing speed is dramatically slower than other brand of laptops such as Sony. If wireless network cards does make a difference... is there anyways I can replace the current one with a new one? anybody knows? Thanks!

Newer laptops use express slots (or something like that, my memory's failing me :P) Older laptops use PCMCIA/PC-Card. Most laptops also have some form of internal slot such as a mini-PCI. I actually upgraded the wireless card on my laptop recently, removing the old one and simply popping in a new one. It's much like laptop RAM, if you've ever installed any.

Bad picture, but see the card just above and to the right the blue LED? That's the wifi card in my Averatec...

wow... that looks very complicated.... hahaha maybe ill just have a tech do it... but that will probably cost me a lot of money for an almost simple installation.....

Haha, well mine's a bit more complicated than some. I've seen some laptops that have metal flap on the bottom that can be removed and the card replaced much like RAM. About the only difference would be the antennas.

:D Like my V6000. Yeah you can buy better cards for your lappy.

Too hard? Just add 16 and 32 bit on the PCMCIA.

Now, USB? Hehe, 2 types, 1.1 and 2.0. Just get an USB wireless and your fine. Good for beginners and easy to install.
