New Zalman CNPS 9500 stil idle 39C?

Well I have a friend who has that same CPU,and I know for a fact it is a 2x 2.00ghz CPU. I know you OC,those are still low temperatures if you ask me.I have a Pentium D and it idles at 44C and it goes all the way up to 56C on full load, and mine isn't even OC.I wouldn't worry at all if I where you.

roughly - although it never used to be like that with the stock heatsin and stock thermal pad.
Thinking about it now doyou think i should turn the heatsink round - atm the fan is facing towards my video card. Should i have placed it other way round so the fan is facing the 120mm fan on my psu so it can extract the hot air? Also do you think it is the thermal compound that is the problem at hand?

Yes I would try facing the 120mm fan chances are it would help. What type of thermal compound did you apply when you installed that Zalman?

Would everyone say that these temps are stable at idle?

I tried to use the compoundit came with but there was no way i could get enough out of the tube so i used some stuff from ebuyer that only costs me 50p but has good reviews as i couldnt find any arctic silver 5

I think what ill do is turn heatsink other way round and try get some arctic silver 5

new application of thermal paste require some time for it to settle in... so it may take some time for the temp to go down... and ya try turning the HSF, it might help too... :)

You can find Artic Silver 5 at Newegg it's only 5.99,but that really isn't going to help you out that much. But dude in all honesty those are pretty stable temps for you're CPU.Try moving the Zalman facing you're 120mm Fan that should make the temps a little better.Like I said before those are not really hot temps especially since you OC,so don't worry your CPU isn't going to blow up trust me.

Ok - how much do you think the temps wil go down by? as i feel like i just wasted £20 on this heatsink and it was a bugger to fit (which im gonna have to do again :(

OK thanks - also all of my temps seem to have risin since i changed my case to a smaller one - is there any way of cooling it down i have a 120mm fan - 2 80mm fans a pci slot exhaust fan and a hard drive cooler and it still seems to be hotter than i would imagine

Samller cases are always a bit hotter than larger ones, and it seem like you have a lot of fans already installed in your case. Are you're fans blowing the air into the case or out?

120mm fan is blowing from front to the rear - 80mm on back is blowing out 80mm on side is blowing out. the two fans on hdd cooler are blowing in i think - should i turn em around to extract the hot air from the hard drive or is blwoing in better?

For the HDD blowing in is most definitely better,I would turn the side fan around so that it would be blowing air in instead of out.Evrything else seems to be correct.

Blowing in air from the side is much better,I know because I did it to my case and I got a lower temp on my Motherboard, and my CPU.I would move the case around 6inches,for better airflow and lower temps.

Ok so if i turn my heatsink around and turn my 80mm on side around you think i would get better system and case settings?
