I want to install a second HD but have some basic questions about compatibility and performance issues.
My current system is a HP Vectra Pentium 3, 733mHz with a 15GB ATA66 hard drive, and 512mb RAM. This machine is about 4 years old but working well. It has Windows 2000 Pro.
I am considering two options for a second drive: internal or external (USB 2.0)
My questions:
1) Since this PC was designed around an ATA66 drive... is it possible to use, as a slave drive, an ATA100 or ATA133? Any complications by using two different types of drives?
2) Are external USB connected drives slower than internal drives? If so, how much difference is there?
3) The HP website says that my machine is limited to 137GB drives. Does using an external USB connected drive have the same size limitation or is this a way around that problem?
