Well, I just finished up building my computer with ALL brand new parts. However, I am having some issues at the moment. When I tried to start my computer for the first time, it would be once then freeze right at the BIOS screen (bottum it says press ESC or enter...etc.). It freezes at the same spot everytime. I decided to try removing one of my two graphic cards, one 1G stick or RAM, unplugging my harddrive and DVD drive to see what would happen. Sure enough, everything was fine when I took those parts out. Please bare with as my knowledge of computers is not the best. Also, my motherboard would read a code "55" on the LED code thing. I am running a EVGA nForce SE SLI 775 TR, 2G OCZ Reaper DDR2 PC6400, 2X EVGA 8600GT OC (SLI), 160G harddrive, 24X DVD drive, and an ANTEC 500W PSU.:(

Maybe the power supply, or the ram those 2 would be the problem most likely, try memtest each stick of ram separately and see if they have errors

I guess there is that chance even though they are brand new. That really doesn't seem like enough power? Also, could I have maybe hooked things up incorrectly?

I had a problem like that with an Asus board I took it to a local shop they took it all apart and put it back together and it worked fine try that.

im not seeing how that could help much, rather simply check connections, that will suffice. but the memtest is really what i would think about.

I mean everything worked fine when I took out one of my graphics cards, one stick of RAM, and disconected my DVD drive and harddrive. Maybe not enough power?

Big Cards, Big Guns

:)For the Newer 8600 Vid Cards, a minimum for the psu is (in my experiences with the new DDR2/3 boards) is 600w - 750w. Powerful Cards Require More Power. However look at the Board manual (not the quicky) to see what is the max wattage for the board. Also, Check to see if your board is really SLI capable. Some Boards look like it, but are cheaper because one slot is disabled.

An after thought, Check to see if ALL Molex power connectors are attached (there should be either a 6 pin power connector or a 4 pin molex by either the bottom PCI, or over the top PCI-E 1x or 16x).

Further advise for a newb is read, read, read. Information and Knowledge is Key.
