Newbie build

Well now that I have read quite a few posts I may consider building my own system. I am new to this so really don't know where to start. My budget will be $1400 including moniter (which will be a 19" flat screen). I do not need a printer. The system will run a window small office software pack. It will need to be internet (high speed) ready. I will need to be able to create and run a website from this computer. I may play one or two games, but really waiting for PS3. 90% of my usage will be internet based.

Like I said, I am new at this. I have printed out the instruction manual on this topic and some bookmarks. I just need to know what to shop for.

Thanks.

A $1400 budget leaves you pretty much wide open, there. You got a wish list or something, 'cause you can buy any of a number of bare bones systems online and add extras and have money left over.

I was thinking of buying a pre built system, now I am thinking otherwise. I have been reading up on what is required as I am totally new at this. I do not have any specs or what I want. My system will be used for regular PC use. No gaming, a little picture dowload/editing. Watching movies, downloads off internet, business use, word, excel, powerpoint, taxes, managing accounts, etc.

So far I think I need everything except a sound/graphics card as I understand a good motherboard will incorporate these. I plan on spending my money on a good motherboard, power supply, and Ram. Once again, still learning. Hopefully in a week I will be able to post a good wish list for everybody's thoughts.

ic, i first thought that the video cards/sound cards were useless...
for a long time, and now i bought a new one lol... for gaming though

Most good motherboards won't include video. Usually it's the cheaper ones that do, as if people are spending a significant amount of money on a mobo, they would usually rather get a seperate graphics card.

I know he said he doesn't want a graphics card, but i'm pretty sure he wants a mobo with integrated graphics, which that one doesn't have. As it stands, that system will not run.

I will need to be able to create and run a website from this computer
By 'run', do you mean host? As in a webserver that will be online 24/7? If not, with that usage profile, you don't really need to spend $1400.

If you add a 6800GS, you have a nice, well balanced system. Add a basic graphics card, or change the mobo to one with integrated graphics, and you have a system well suited to CPU intensive tasks. However, if I were you, i'd be inclined to save some money, and look at something more basic.
