Hello, I need help on which video card i choose for my new pc.
I m not a pro gamers, and won't run those fancy games with extreme 3D graphics required.
I will only play some LAN games, such as Warcraft III, Counter Strike and some online games such as RO, MU, R.O.S.E online.

Which video card should i buy? Does FX5200 enough with those games? And i heard that FX5200 isn't that good.

The 5200 isnt that good even for what you have in mind (well you can but you'll always be wondering whether it'll work or not). I personally wouldnt consider anything less than a 9600Pro (~80 so not that much more than a 5200 believe it or not)

I have a GeForce 4 MX-440SE 64MB and it works fine with counterstrike, warcraft III, DVDs and games like you are wanting to play. I have had it for around 3 years and it has not failed once. It is very good for value (even though it is a bit out-dated and low-ranged). But if you want to play games with pixel shading, like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Box or 3 or more demanding games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3, it just wont work (well it is a low-budget card). So I would recommend the MX440 over the FX5200.

A GF4MX-440 might work with those games but I'd call it's a big stretch to say it's better. If you can find a used/new GF4 Ti4200/4400/4600 somewhere it would be one of the better inexpensive cards you can buy (or the 9600pro suggested by praetor works too)

I've had the 5200 for a while now and it is junk. Playing Battlefield 1942 on that card is a joke ,so this past week I bought a 9600xt. That blows the 5200 out of the sky. Spend a little more and get a good card.

you know, you dont need a 6800Ultra to run the games he talked anout, an ATI 9000 128mb runs CS fine, although im not sure about WarcraftIII, but i had a FX5500 and i could run all the games, even the newest games (HL2, FarCry) at medium settings, so i think the FX5200 would be fine for your needs.

All rite. The FX5200 is more than enough to run those games. YOu could run warcraft III on highest setting at 1280x1024x32. It runs pretty smooth, you'll encounter some lag, but not enough to complain about. n Try to get one with a fan. I got the mad dog one, and i oc it and it runs great.

Im using a MSI FX5200 128mb right now. Using it to play R.O.S.E Online and that $hiT is wack. It freezes the game alot. I don't recommend that video card at all. Some of you might say maybe cause my comp sucks thats why its freezing up on me.

Previous comp was: p4 2.6, 392MB SD Ram, ATI 64mb video and R.O.S.E online was doing great.

New installed parts of comp now: p4 2.6, 512 DDR400 ram, FX5200 128MB and it keep freezing up my R.O.S.E game.

Whoa who said anything about a 6800Ultra? Try 9600pro, which I agree would do the job for not much more. I'm going to be purchasing one soon and don't plan on doing anything more than 5had0w mentioned...

1. No shit, nobody ever said anything about a 6800Ultra
2. It doesnt matter what settings you pulled off with your 5500. If you can get a 9600Pro/XT for roughly the same price it would be plain silly not to
3. The difference between the 5500 and the 5200 is a whopping 20MHz on the core. That's it. Hell the 5200Ultra will outpace the 5500 by 55MHz (i.e., model numbers dont mean all that much)

Even though my Ti4600 lagged out at the highest settings ....

Yer better off getting your own fan unless you buy one with a really solid fan. :)
