Newbie Question Regarding Desktop

Is there anyway to change the START button in the lower left corner from green to any other colour? I figured out how to change the toolbar but even then it only gave me the option of three colours, anyway to find more? I'd like to use black, for both.

Using Windows XP btw.

That shoud change color along with the taskbar when going into the appearance tab in the display properties and clicking on the advanced button seen there. The dropdown list of items starts with the desktop. The top item is the 3D objects setting that change the color of not only the taskbar and button except the MS icon there but the borders around all windows. For 3rd party tricks and tweaks sites like wincustomize seen at http://www.wincustomize.com/ and some others like Style XP at http://www.tgtsoft.com/ will have downloads and utilities for changing the defaults themes and icons and you name it.

The one thing to note about the Vista transformation pack is that some items like the changes made on the logoff, shutdown, restart menu cannot be undone. A circular icon seen in the Windows Explorer/MyComputer taskbar is another item added there. A manual edit of the system registry was required to get other things removed after disabling the two items in both the startup and services groups of the msconfig utility. To restore everything back you would most likely need a repair install of Windows for that.
