ok so i just payed for this ram:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227297

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

but after building my computer and looking at cpu-z saw that what i had was dd3 pc3 8500 running @ 533mhz...

and THEN i remember that i installed 2 GOLD colored sticks when i payed for platinum.

....soooo, can someone really screw an order up that badly? i mean i couldnt even find the ram they sent me on their website...

For starters, you have to manually set memory speed. Secondly, what model of memory does it show on the memory packaging?

errrr i just double check and it is platinum ram and there was a sticker on it yes
but it said it was the stuff i payed for, pc3 12800

Go into your bios and set the memory speed then.

Yes - what he said.

My DDR3 1600 Ram - when installed defaulted to 1033. When I set the RAM properly in the bios - the voltage increased - and it's now registering at 1600.

I can see a difference when gaming at the faster speed.

CPU-Z has a strange way of identifying the RAM.

I bought PC3 12800 (1600Mhz) and CPU-Z shows PC3 10700 (667Mhz)

I bought part number TR3X6G1600C8D, CPU-Z shows CM3X2G1600C8D

=/ but both EasyTune 6 (came with mobo) and cpu-z say it is pc3 8500F (533mhz). but im gonna call right now. last night was to late.

EDIT: and i just tried setting it to 1600mhz and i got an error screen before windows launched telling me it shut down to protect my computer form damage.

ok so i hopped on the OCZ forums and this was like the first thing in the FAQ :P NewEgg did NOT send me the wrong ram. just CPU-Z at fault as someone had suggested.
