Newly installed floppy drive not recognised

Hi there,

I have just installed a floppy drive into a computer that originally did not come with one. I have connected the cable and power but the floppy drive does not appear in the boot device list in the BIOS nor in My Computer.
What needs to be done for the floppy drive to be recognised?

Thanks

There's typically a section in the bios where you can enable floppy drives. Typically it's on the same page as your HD information, but it all really depends on your computer/bios.

Hey tristan, if it helps this is what it looks like in my BIOS:

Where it says Drive A (this maybe slightly different on yours) you need to change it to "1.44m, 3.5in

Legend 69, he maybe using a floppy drive to make a boot disk?

Ahh, just wondered since i thought people didint use them anymore.

You don't? Every of my computres have it, even my E4300.

^ Went to ebay and bought an whole lot of parts that contained an floppy for it. Floppies are great for boot disks or some documents.
