Next Generation Cards?

Has anyone heard anything about the next generation cards from ATi/Nvidia? Who will win this round do you reckon?

ATI is believed to come with 5000-series cards which won't, according to the rumour mill, be a revolutionary advance performance-wise (but a significant advance nonethless), but price/performance wise instead. ATi is pushing GDDR5 for mainstream, which allow for narrower memory buses (=smaller and cheaper die without sacrificing performance), and the 40nm process is apparently making the GPUs even cheaper to manufacture.

NVIDIA is working on its GTX300-series lineup, but I don't know a lot about them...

ive decided.

Im getting a GTX285

if im gonna wait, then im gonna be stuck in limbo for another year...

Im gonna make my purchase now, and i think the GTX285 will last me...

I am torn myself...8800GT still does what I ask of it.

The thing I wonder is I hear Windows 7 is suppose to use cpu to handle some of the GPU functions...I almost wonder if it would be worth waiting for it vs upgrading now.

I know next year I will upgrade to I7 regardless....just not worth it right now.

The company that you all should be watching isn't even mentioned here. Intel is coming out with a Quad Core GPU and will blow everything else out of the water.

The intel card plus there new partnership with Lucid is going to change the way we think about GFX cards :http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/117/1050117/intel-puts-lucid-hydra-on-x58 (with a lucid mobo + intel GFX cards it would be possible to have 24 GPU's)

ATi is also coming out with a multicore solution as well but I am unsure it will be out before intel realease theres.
