nforce mobos and nvidia graphics cards?

Is there a specific advantage to use a mobo with nforce4 support when running an nvidia graphics card?

I ask this because I have a ASUS p5ad2-e premium mobo with a BFG 7900gtx OC and the performance is horrible compared to my friend's computer. Hell my old x850xt out performed my current setup, so I'm wondering what could be hindering my system.

I have a 3.2Ghz pentium 4 640 processor with 2 gigs of Geil DDR2 dual channel ram PC4300, and a raptor 74gb

My friend has an AMD Athlon 64 3500+, Corsair XMS 1GB DDR PC-4400, and the ASUS A8N-SLI mobo also running a single 7900gtx OC

Thanks for the help guys!

Your memory should actually be PC2-4300 as it is DDR2 memory.

Is your GPU getting enough power? What PSU do you have? Do you have the PCI-E power connector plugged to the card?

i have a 500 watt x-connect PSU

The graphics card has 2 female power connectors, and I only plugged in one because I was afraid if i plugged in both, something bad would happen

i was looking at the instruction manual and it didn't mention anything about plugging power to both connections.
