Nintendo DS VS Sony PSP

Did a quick search and did not find a thread that covered this ;). Thought it would be fun to see some bickering and moaning about handhelds for a change. Even better perhaps some intelligent arguments/conversation which does not lead to pointless name calling.

Now personally I prefer the DS Lite simply because. I know the PSP is technically superior graphically but you cannot beat that touch screen for innovated gaming goodness! and the redesign of the DS Lite is just yummy eye candy. This is again one of those situations where anyone with both is clearly the lucky one. Each has something great over the other and we as gamers are lucky that they both exist! Now let the debates begin!

have only used the psp, which i loved for pro evo soccer :D
btw they give psp's away for free when you get a new mobile phone here in the UK.

As with much of the new and upcoming hardware that Sony has come out with recently, the PSP is a little overpriced for my taste. However, the DS Lite is a great little system, especially since I'd rather have 5 really fun games that graphically might not be as good as one of the graphically superior games on the PSP (as you pointed out, Blue). A similar reason why I'm heavily leaning towards the Wii instead of the PS3 for the next console as well...

I prefer PSP over DS, just cause the I like the PSP's games better. I'm looking forward for the Wii more than any other next gen console though, I love the wii-mote design. I have my Computer for good graphics.

I don't own either handheld, but have tried both and even though I am a Playstation Fanboy I must admit that the DS Touchscreen is awesome, lower quality-looking game and all, but it is still awesome.
I'm not into handhelds, but if I had to buy one, it would be the DS just for a change in pace and style. Game wise it would be the PSP, but since for the style of games I prefer the console or PC versions, it would be DS.
Metroid is so cool with the touch screen for aiming and different functions. A little hard to get used to, but i guess you get the hang of it after a while.

i think they're both quite good, but the battery life on the psp is just too short
i heard it was max 4 hrs or something? and if you're playing a movie, it would last around 2hrs which means it can't finish even one movie... correct me if i'm wrong

I am pretty sure the DS is selling way better than the PSP. I have used both but since I dont really like the PSP, I would go DS. It's simple and fun. I dont need all that extra crap in the PSP, I have my cell phone or iPod for that.

It's more than that. I can watch the full Spiderman 2 movie and still have 2 bars of battery left. Games, It varies from 4-6 hrs, depending on the game and how battery friendly they made it.

Yeah, but the screen on the PSP ghosts terribly. I have a DS, and used to have a PSP, but I returned it so that I could buy an 80 gig iPod Video.
