Are you buying the Nintendo wii console?

Have you been able to get one if so whats it like and as it lived up to your expectations?

Ive played it at my friends house. I must say it's pretty kewl and has some pretty chill games. If you don't like the wiimote you can also just attach the normal gamecube remote.
 
I've not got it yet but look forward to it. I've not really heard many complaints so far. There is the issue with some with flying controllers which I find the entire topic humerus.
 
My friend has one, its pretty cool. The graphics are average, not great, but not bad either. The controller is hard to use while playing games because it is not very accurate. But its fun.
 
i'm not looking for another console at the moment, but probably in the future when the price goes down, i'll get one
 
Definitely worth it. One of those consoles that could bring the family together for a sitting. Comes with a game, which all other console's don't. These flying wiimote and black-eye stories are just idiotic people forgetting that it's just a game and enjoying or getting frustrated too much. Met every expectation I had, which wasn't much. The graphics, it looks good to me. I don't pay attention to too much graphics, so it looks like xbox and ps2 graphics to me; which are pretty good.
 
I played it at my local bestbuy. its a soso console over all. but I just dont find much interest in playing console nowadays. But still over all its a good system, I probably going to get one once they got more unit available, like probably next year.
 
I own one and its great and IMO sports games are going to be way superior on the wii compared to the other consoles. so if you are into sports games it is definitely worth it.

Oh yeah, and zelda is probably the most amazing console game I have played in a long, but not with out giving RE4 honorable mention. I can't wait or the Wii's exclusive RE game.
 
It looks great, I want to get the PS3 still though since 1. I've wanted one for at least a year, and 2. I've got a PSP, so there's some good stuff(connectivity, PS1 games, etc.) After I get the PS3, I'll probably get a Wii next, I honestly couldn't see myself chucking it... Maybe backhanding the wall really hard, but the people who really make it fly are the ones that like let, go of it when they're moving really fast, if I just spent over $200 on something, there's no way I'd even drop it, yet alone throw it.
 
yes it does not play dvd movies. I doubt the second, third or any other generation of the system will either.
 
The Playstation 2 plays DVDs. It isn't all the good as it doesn't play multiregional ones though. I think the Wii looks the best idea for a new console, its something new and interesting. It's like the arcade in your house!
 
I can't remember the TV show i was watching but they said definitly second gen and if it doesnt play dvds im going to be mad
 
yeah but I own a dvd player, and I have TV out from my computer which has a DVDRW drive, so its not like I need the Wii to play dvds, and if it makes the console cheaper than whatever.

However, the Wii discs are of a DVD type format, so it would just take a firmware upgrade and possibly some play back software for the Wii to do this, as well as play MP3s and other types of media. Since it takes SD cards it would be super easy to transfer that stuff from your PC to the Wii as well. Nintendo is like Apple in a sense they are some what secretive about their products.
 
Did you guys hear about the Wii controller strap recall? Apparently too many people were throwing them at other people

Its not a recall its an exchange program that Nintendo is giving out to its customers by choice. It only effects the first shipment of Wiis because they had the thinner wrist straps.
