Nivdia 59X Series

These look interesting. Hopefully the newer 59x GPU's don't run as hot as the current flagship 480's and 470's... And maybe a little less noisier. The supposed 3GB of VRAM sounds absolutely massive. I long to see the day where all of this memory is actually utilised...

of course it will run cooler than the 480 and 470 since they are no longer the flagship cards this new dual will be based on the gf 110 aka gtx 580 which is already more efficient and cooler than than previous flagship Fermi.
i i would imagine if doing something like folding at home or using programs similar to it that use the gpu would utilize the full 3gb

F@H uses hardly any VRAM. The 3GB will be used if you have 3 monitors running 3D suround, on a resource heavy game. I would quite like to see hawx 2 played on this with 3 monitors, I know Nvidia harp on about tesselation, but hawx 2 is pretty much the only game that utilises tesselation well at the moment, whether it could get the constant 120FPS needed for 3D, with 3 monitors at high resolution, and with tessalation, would be interesting to see.

Also, with TDP, it isn't that the 580 is cooler and usees less power, 8W difference is nothing really, however the 580 is much, much more efficient, 8W less and a hell of a lot more grunt. The 580 still isn't all that cool though, would be interesting to see the cooling sollution they use

These new generations of cards look amazing! I like the idea of some of the comments, such as integrating a low-end GPU for 2D and light duty 3D apps, it would really cut down on the power required.

Video cards are great these days, Colourful are designing a slim GTS 450 that is truly ingenious. Where the VRM's are mounted, holes are cut in the PCB and they use slim VRM's and mount them in the hole to save space :)

And of course cards are getting more powerful in general

That sounds good, folders rejoice! Personally can't see point of 450 otherwise.

Yeah, that's just moore's law isn't it
But unless Intel hurry up with their 22nm process then Moore's law will no longer apply pretty soon
