no audio on creative web cam

my creative video blaster web cam go plus won't record audio when i record a short piece of video, i've checked settings: audio format: use default format (tried the others anyway without success) and compression: no device selected.
any ideas??

guess what, i've checked the manual and it says it can. there's a red record button on the back, i've pressed it now i can hear as well as see - embarrassing or what, thanks for speedy reply, maybe i can get to bed now, well, in a minute, i'll just play for a while. thanks. cliff
