no audio

hi guys looking for any advice, just finished rebuilding an old pc everything is fine except no audio, the motherboard is an asrock k8 upgrade nf3, i have went onto the asrock website and downloaded all the drivers including the ac97 audio driver which seems to go in fine, yet theres no sound, any help appreciated.

Look in device manager for any entries still needing drivers, do you see any yellow question marks? If so, what are the entries labeled? Do you have the speakers in the correct port on the back of the computer? Go into the audio properties and make sure the right output is selected. Do you have the speaker icon down in the system tray by the clock?

Also check the BIOS to make sure onboard audio is enabled.

yes i checked device manager all drivers are in, enabled onboard audio in bios, was previously set to auto, but still no sound from front or rear audio ports.
