I am a newbie with little computer knowledge.....Have older system with formatted hd , floppy and cd-rom but cannot access cd-rom to install win98se assuming I need drivers.....can someone point me in right direction...

So you get to the A:/ and you are wondering how to proceed? Sometimes the cdrom is assigned a new drive letter.. R: or even S:.. It will be displayed on the statrup of DOS. So you did partition the hard drive (fdisk) and the format the hard drive (fromat c:) ?

Are you trying to install Win98 from the CD? If so changing the boot sequence in the BIOS to detect your CD-Rom might be the way forward.

Thanks for the quote....ha.ha. I tried changing the boot sequence in the bios......Made no difference at all....cd-rom not available used all letters trying to find it...No dos on hd....don't have a stand alone version either....win 98 se will not self boot ...anymore suggstions.....Help

I am not an expert on Windows 98, by any means. But your computer should have come with a "Starup Disk", which contains the program fdisk, to format and partition your drive. There's a lot to it, but this website should help a little...
