I've been having this problem for quite long now on my HP laptop; can't remember when or how it started.
This only happens to my laptop - no other computers or any phones or tablets in the household seem to be affected.
Essentially, sometimes when I start my computer and log in, the computer is connected to my wireless network, but there is no connection between the network and the Internet. Clicking the red cross starts the troubleshooting, but that doesn't ever do any good. Restarting the router sometimes helps, but it's tedious to do it so often. I've only just regained my connection, without actually doing anything. It usually helps to just wait about 10-15 minutes, but sometimes I just lose it again.
I always try turning my "HP Connection Manager" off and back on. Recently I renewed my computer's IP address, which worked until I turned off the computer and turned it back on today.
I've only just moved away from a student flat where I had to use a static IP, and I had the same problem then. Like I said, it only ever seems to affect my computer. What could be causing this?
Thank you for reading.
