No connection between wireless network and the Internet

I've been having this problem for quite long now on my HP laptop; can't remember when or how it started.

This only happens to my laptop - no other computers or any phones or tablets in the household seem to be affected.

Essentially, sometimes when I start my computer and log in, the computer is connected to my wireless network, but there is no connection between the network and the Internet. Clicking the red cross starts the troubleshooting, but that doesn't ever do any good. Restarting the router sometimes helps, but it's tedious to do it so often. I've only just regained my connection, without actually doing anything. It usually helps to just wait about 10-15 minutes, but sometimes I just lose it again.

I always try turning my "HP Connection Manager" off and back on. Recently I renewed my computer's IP address, which worked until I turned off the computer and turned it back on today.

I've only just moved away from a student flat where I had to use a static IP, and I had the same problem then. Like I said, it only ever seems to affect my computer. What could be causing this?

Thank you for reading.

I'd start with updating drivers for the wifi chipset since this is a laptop specific problem. Does it show any SSIDs at all when you have the X?

DNS servers are on "automatic".

I'm not very tech savvy so I rarely bother with drivers unless I'm told exactly what to do. I am of the opinion that my devices should be able to just download and install whatever they need on their own, but I guess that's not how it works.

In Device Manager (?, my Windows is not in English), I have 3 items under Network Card:

Hamachi Network Interface
Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

What drivers would I need, you think? Much obliged. It only just happened again, when I was about to post this reply.

What model exactly is your laptop? (It'll be on a sticker that says HP [Modelname][Model number]us.

Make sure that obtain IP address is automatically is checked. Don't set a static IP as that may be the issue.

It's HP 584037-001. (HP Pavilion DV6, the guy who sold it to me said.)

And the IP is set to dynamic, of course.

Thank you for helping, and a Merry Christmas!
