No DVD Burner Detected

I have a Sony DWQ120AB2 OEM set to Master that I just purchased along with a MSI 865GVM3-V motherboard with a P4 3.2 ghz processor. ATI All in one Rage 128 Pro Video card with my onboard motherboard video disabled. I also have a Sony DVD ROM drive set to Slave with the master being the last on the cable. The Transfer mode is set to "DMA if available". Current Transfer Mode" is set to "Ultra DMA Mode 2". The Jumper on the Master is set to Master, and the Jumper on the Slave is set to Slave. I am running Windows XP Professional. I am using DVD shrink which I have never had a problem using with my old LG DVD burner. So I am trying to figure out why the Sony isn't working on mine as a DVD burner but it comes up fine as a CD burner.

Any other suggestions?

Maybe it's time for a different burning software? Sony drives can be rather picky at times while being generally reliable. DVD Shrink apparently doesn't recognise that model drive. A new Sony comes with burning software included if bought retail. For bare bones or oem buys something like B's Recorder GOLD, Roxio's Easy Media Creator, Nero, and others are like the freeware Deep Burner are ones to look at. The other is a simple drive configuration problem if you are not able to read off cds or dvds.

Thank you. That is exactly what the problem was. I upgraded DVD Shrink, and as it turned out, I had forgotten to initialize my copy of Nero by entering the serial number so I was running a demo version. Anyway, the system works great and so does Shrink.

Thanks for your time.

Ouch on the demo versions! Sharewares like that will lack the extra support needed for disk and drive detection. Sony may not be seeing any good batteries lately but the drives with their name on it have always been reliable here. With the software corrected you should see some good burns now.
