I have been trying to build a computer for the past month. It will not POST or show any video. I have changed the motherboard, memory, processor, power supply, video card, monitor, and video cable. I have used the test bench still with no luck. Here are the specs:

PwrSupply: Antec 450W
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8I945P
RAM: 1GB GEIL PC2-5300 667MHz
Processor: 3.0GHZ Pentium D
Video Card: XFX 6800GT Dual DVI

With the test bench, I am only using the processor, memory, video card, and the power supply. The power is plugged into the main 24pin connection and the 4 pin P4 connection. Heatsink is plugged into motherboard and only power wire is plugged into motherboard. I have also tried to reset the cmos. ANY IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Does anything at all happen when you push the power button? Fans spin up?, LEDs light? Have you connected the power button to the correct pins on the front panel MB header?

Are you sure your motherboard isnt getting grouned out on the case? Have you tried different types of power supplies? Yes, some can have incompatabilties. My Coolermaster 450watt wouldn't make my Epox post, but my Saga 450watt would...

All fanbs spin up and all led's light up, just nothing on screen. I have now tried 3 different power supplies with no luck. Any other ideas?

is the monitor or monitor cable broke by any chance? it seems you have tried pretty much everything else

To get it out of the way, did you put in motherboard standoffs? I forgot the first time I built a computer.

I have tried 3 different video cables and 2 monitors both of which are known to work. I have used the test bench (everything out of case on static free surface) with the same result. All cables are plugged in: 24 pin to motherboard, 4 pin to board, heatsink fan to motherboard...all unecessary devices are unplugged including case fans and drives. Tried with 2 different power supplies (both 450w or above).

As a side note, on Intel's site, there is a troubleshooting tip that is listed for my exact problem: "All devies power up, all LED's light, and all fans spin but with no video"...I tried all troubleshooting tips including the final one to replace the processor. Sent processor off to Intel and received a new one with still no POST or video.

1. Are these PSUs confirmed to work?
2. Wattage doesnt mean much

Assuming the PSU's work, the fault would prolly be the motherboard

Have ALL the replacement parts been tested in another working machine? Wouldn't be the first time that a replacement part was a dud too.

Agreed (although i think its fair to say multiple DOA in a row is pretty rare) .. test the individual parts out on a machine confirmed to be working :)
