What was the original reason for Vista reinstall?
What kind of disk did you use to reinstall? Some recovery DVD, or Vista DVD?
Any errors in Device Manager?

the device is intel pro/1000 mt mobile it says its working fine do i need driver

At a computer where you have an internet connection, go to the web site for the laptop's manufacturer and look up drivers. When you've found the drivers for that model, download the one for the NIC, transfer it to the laptop and install it.

I know that you said that it seemed to be working fine in Device Manager, but since there's no light on the NIC and all that's been changed is software related, it's probably a software issue.

If you replace the driver and it still doesn't work, give it a reboot. Let me know what happens.

Wait a sec...

Did you use your recovery disk on your friend's computer?
yes it was. i have managed to download driver for wireless but not for lan i dont know wheree to go with this my os is vista the lap top is an ibm t40 thinck pad

Unless your computer and your friend computer are identical models, you can't use recovery disk designed for one computer, on another computer.
