no internet connection

I got on my brothers computer and i noticed that he had no internet connection, on the back of his desktop the lights arent flashing like they should by the ethernet port, i pulled the computer and tried it on a different line, different rooms and same issue, i pulled another computer and plugged it into the same line without changing anything and i got connection instantly, im thinking ethernet port is bad? anybody else have ideas?

Make sure that the ethernet connection isn't disabled and that the driver is installed correctly.

tried all of that already, its not reading the ethernet cable. It says it as nothing is plugged in. I know the cable is good because it works on other computers just fine

If you go into device manager does it show up?

yep eveything looks like it should

Either a bad driver or just plain hardware failure on the network card.

cuz it seriously just cut out one day, worked great the last like 2 years since he had it, one day went to get online and it wouldnt. Its onboard ethernet and there really isnt a slot for me to drop in one
