No internet on laptop.

So heres the deal...

I had internet on my laptop and 24 hours later I didnt...I have tried everything including

-Changing ethernet cables
-Changing ports on router
-Resetting modem
-Resetting router
-System restore
-Direct connect to modem
-Static IP
-Auto IP

The port where the ethernet cable plugs into on back of laptop does not light up at all neither doe the light for the port which the other end plugs into on the router.

Could the card have died some how? Would a USB network adapter work?

As long as your USB connections are working, it should work. Have you tried to do a system restore and see if the connections come back?

First off, look in device manager for your network adapter and see if by chance the driver got corrupt or something. Right click on the network device and click on uninstall, then reboot the system and let windows reinstall the driver for it. If this laptop has wireless, use that to see if you can get internet. Was there a storm going on when the laptop was plugged into the internet?
