hi there, i have just bought a computer off of ebay, i noticed when i went to plug in my monitor that it didnt have a vga port, i thought fair enough, this computer is quite old so it proboly doesnt. looking at the board it has on board grapics so why doesnt it have a vga port?

anyway, i bought an ati agp graphics card (16mb as this computer is for my brother to work on, not to play games etc) so i installed it in the AGP slot, plugged in the monitor and.......................

nothing, zilcho. if the computer wont out put to the monitor, how on earth can i edit the bios?

very strange.... it has all the other usual ports, usb ethernet, serial port etc etc but no vga

is there anyway i can fix this problem?

any help greatly appriciated, if it helps the computer has a intel pentium 3 socket 370 so it is fairly old, but it is what he wants, i also have a NVIDIA graphics card and that didnt work either so i dont know what to do,
please help

kind regards,

How do you know that it has integrated video? If there is no VGA port then chances are it doesn't. Did the person you bought it from say that it works fine? Perhaps it wouldn't post and that's why he sold it.

you might want to research and see what agp slot it has-i.e.-2x or 4x-I had a biostar board that would only work with 2x AGP cards-complete black screen with a 4x.

^ It could be that, or bad stick of ram, incompatable CPU, dead cpu, anything really. Is any of the hardware known good?
