No OS

I got 2 PC's and one XP COA. thats a problem
My win 98 cd was eaten by my cd drive
I dont feel like buying anything over $50
Does anyone know of the "best" free OS
Perhaps a link to the download of it or somthing

I just installed Ubuntu Linux last week and I couldn't be happier with it. I had used Mac and Windows almost exclusively before that and haven't had too much trouble learning the basics of the OS. As someone mentioned, there are a ton of linux flavors to choose from...if you go in that direction I'd suggest choosing one that is considered to be on the "user-friendly" end of the spectrum (e.g. Ubuntu, Red Hat).
