Why exactly did Microsoft remove the Domain feature from Windows XP Media Centre Edition In the Windows Installer, MCE is named "Professional." In the Windows Setup, it gives you the option to join a domain, but then Barrs you out of it once Windows fully loads, and a quick Registry fix with the Windows Recovery Console can restore the Domain option and it will fully work. I should know. I have tried it.

They removed the domain feature from XP MCE because MCE was an OS aimed more towards the home user rather than the business user. I know it was based on XP Pro but there were some features of Pro which were disabled by default in MCE, such as the domain feature.
