No profiles for Firefox

I came down with a virus, and my antivirus software didn't seem to do anything.

I noticed that it filled my web browsers with ads from somebody named "saveron." So I searched for that keyword, and came up with a few results. I right-clicked and said "open file location."

I found out this virus was located in a folder in my Firefox installation called "profiles." I assumed that the whole folder was a virus, since the two sub-folders were just a random assortment of letters and numbers. I assumed that the titles of legitimate folders would be named something I could understand.

So, I deleted the folders permanently (I didn't want the virus to realize it was in the recycle bin and move itself back out).

However, when I went to launch Firefox again, it said that it couldn't load my profile. Yeah, apparently, you need at least one profile for Firefox to work at all!

So, I went ot my control panel and uninstalled Firefox, downloaded it again. However, the problem of a lack of a profile still persisted, even though this was a completely new install.

Does anyone have a copy of a vanilla Firefox profile that they can send to me? You know... the sort of folder that gets installed if Firefox is the very first thing you download, immediately after a factory restore?

I looked at that link, and I decided that the best thing to do was use the Profile Manager to create a new profile for myself.

Only one problem: When I went to Youtube to try and get a visual demonstration of what I was supposed to do, all the videos I found showed them launching the Firefox browser, and opening the Profile Manager from there.

My inability to launch the browser is my entire problem!

Why are you visiting youtube when you have the instructions right there on that page?

1. Click on the Windows Start button and type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\ in the search box.
2. Double-click the Firefox folder to open it.
3. Delete (or rename, for example, to profiles.iniOLD) the profiles.ini file.

When you start Firefox, a new profile will be created.
