No programs start (except firefox)

Firefox seems to be the only thing that runs. Azureus, system restore, all do nothing now when attempted to be started. Here is the error message:
Windows Script Host
Script: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\system.vbs
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'ComDll.1"
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error

I get this when I start up the computer at logon. When I go to startup\system.vbs to start it, the same message goes up. This is the first time this has ever happened. I am kindof nervous as to what I am going to do next....
Eternally thankful,
Mark

EDIT- Is this a virus?

No, nothing started. I am upset because I run a 50 GB FTP with ~100 members, and this will be a huge pain to fix up. Would anyone know if this problem can be fixed by replacing anything? If not, it looks like I will just be forced to reformat. :(

Yes, it's a worm/virus. If you can run firefox go here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and run the scan it will take a while to run. Once it's got everything cleaned up, you probably can't run programs still. To fix that open regedit (use windows explorer to copy regedit.exe and rename it regedit.com). Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\exefile\shell\open\command and ser the key (named "(default)") to "%1" %*

If you can't run firefox, do the second part first then you can run any program again.
