Hello,
Since I remember it was never a big challenge for me to solve more of the computer problems, but my knowledge and experience are certainly not enough for this situation. For the beginning I give the hardware configuration:
- Motherboard Asus M4A87TD Evo Extreme Performance
- Graphic card GeForce GTX 460 SE
- Processor AMD Phenom II X4 955 Socket AM3 QuadCore
- Power supply Corsair GS800 800W
- Memory 2x 4GB Elixir DDR3 1333Mhz
- Hard disk WD 10EALX SATA 32MB Cache 1TB
- Monitor AOC FullHD DCR 2436V
The computer have been purchased in United Kingdom, if it may give any clue. All the parts are brand new, not used, not mechanically damaged.
Problem:
I tried to put together all the parts on my own. I mounted the motherboard, processor, RAM, I plugged the graphic card, then I inserted the power supply, finally the hard disk. I was connecting all the cables to the motherboard step by step with its instruction guide. All seemed to be all right, until I turned the computer on for the first time (with only monitor and keyboard connected, and the power supply obviously). At that moment, mysterious "No Signal" appeared on the screen.
What I tried to do:
My first thought was that I plugged the monitor and/or the graphic card in a wrong way. I tried to plug another monitor (from the old computer) - nothing have changed. Both of the monitors are working well on the old computer, so I don't think it's because of the monitor.
I also tried to use different cables - still nothing have changed. All the cables are working properly on the old computer, so I don't think they are the source of the problem.
I even tried to plug the old graphic card (Radeon X1550) - the same text was on the screen all the time. According to this, I don't think it's the graphic card.
A little walved, I was still combinating. I tried to plug RAMs in a few different configurations, including only one stick plugged (in different slots). As you can probobaly easily find out, "No Signal" was still the only thing the computer was able to display.
I tried to plug the graphic cards (both the new one and the old Radeon) to another PCI slot (4x). There was still no signal.
Without any more ideas, I doublechecked with the instruction guides if I connected all the cables to the motherboard properly. I didn't find any incorrectness, though I'd rather think, that the source of the problem is lying somewhere here.
The power supply is connected to the 24-pin slot. There is one more 4-pin slot on the motherboard, but there is no physical cable which would fit there. So I
understand, that all the power stuff is connected properly. The graphic card is connected with 4 power cables, and the fan is working, so I assume that it has got the power.
If I didn't give any important information about the computer and/or the whole situation, just let me know, I will check it and write it here. Do you have any idea what might be the reason of the relentless "No Signal" text? I'm not gonna be surprised if it will occur that the cause of the problem is very prosaic. I could be wrong in all the places I wrote that "I don't think that * is the cause of the problem" - these are just my thoughts. Thank you for all the suggestions and advices.
