I have a pc: msi motherboard, 1.5GB RAM, amd xp 2800+, sapphire radeon 9800 pro, 18" TFT monitor.

The problem is that whenever I start my pc up now my monitor searches for a signal and does not find one, it used to work fine. Im not sure if its my motherboard that is causing the problem. Its not the graphics card or monitor as it works in other pcs.

Please help. Thanks

it says signal 1 then switches to signal 2. It means it is searching both signals and keeps looping because it cant find a signal. Thanks

I have the same problem, and I just upgraded my motherboard and power supply due to the fact that nothing would start up (fans, hd, etc).

When I went to install windows last night, I got as far as "19 minutes left" in the second stage of the installation. The computer then get a fatal error about drivers(blue screen), so I rebooted, and restarted the installation. It then tried to load the setup, and my computer kept reseting.

I powered down, let it rest for a few minutes, and tried again, this time to find that my monitor would only sit in standby

I tried another AGP video card (nVidia TNT2 32MB) yet still no signal. This leads me to believe my 9800 totally screwed me over twice now, and damaged the AGP slot.

I have a service plan at FutureShop, so I'm going to try to get an nVidia something instead (ATI always gave me problems from power, to drivers), and if not, another 9800, and I'll let you know how that goes.

(unllike my first mb, and ps, fans and hd's actually turn on, so I know it's not the power supply or power distrubution through the mb.)

lucas, try starting the computer with only 1 stick of ram in. if it still doesnt work, then try seating it in different slots.

I have tried that, I thought it might be the ram. i think it might actually be the card because now it doesnt work in a different pc. I am going to claim off the warranty.

what does the pc do when you turn it on? does everything starts running (hdd, fans)
and does the pc make a sound like its booting?
because it might also be the CPU.
