 Hello,

Since I have reformated my hard drive and installed Win98SE updated I have no more sound (my computer is 6 years old and when I bought it, Win98 was installed on it but I don't have the original Windows CD-Rom anymore).

That's what I get when I open the computer:
PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
Copyright 1985-1998 Phoenix Technologies Ltd.
Ref N°: G759-98070-OT-87-00-06-10$

UMB upper limit segment address: EAOE
Mouse initialized
Fixed Dis 0: TOSHIBA MK3205MAV
ATAPI CD-ROM: TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-1802B

Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup

and here are the information about the system:

Identifiant carte mère = DMI. Nom = Alfa Top Corporation G759/G760.

Can anyone help me to find the right sound card I have to install ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

did u try windows update? it might have the driver. usually onboard audios are either ac97 or c media, but since you said it is 6 years old it'll probably be ac97

It's more a BIOS than a windows problem.
What computer do you have? Did you run fdisk on this drive?
For example some Compaqs have an extra partition on hdd which contains a BIOS setup program and the computer won't function well without it.

Cannot find the problem. I have downloaded some sound card and then, my drive E has disappeared so I could'nt install something I needed for the sound card from my Windows98SE CD-Rom. At the end, I have reinstalled Win98SE. So it's just like before. Drive E = present but no sound again. I won't search anymore and asap will buy a new computer (mine is 6 years old). Thanks for your help.
