there is no sound in these programs but there is sound in for example audacity, basically in all programms which aren't connected with internet connection

i had a program called "flashmute" but i uninstalled it via "add remove programs
" in control panel

i have windows xp pro edition with sp2

Apparently Flashmute left Flash Player muted. You will probably end up having to reinstall FlashMute 2.06 and remove it again to get the sound back. You download that from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Other-Internet-Related/FlashMute.shtml

A piece of the software leftover is not uncommon. Another thing to try is look in the startup group of the msconfig utility and uncheck any FlashMute items if any found there. That would be a leftover in the system registry still trying to load FlashMute. A manual edit there could be done if you knew the locations in the registry itself. Or perhaps you need to reinstall the Adobe Flash Player itself. http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/

It sounds like all the sound was knocked out. Have you checked the device manager under sounds and game controllers to see if anything there has a yellow mark next to it? Or is the sound still lost when online only?

there's no yellow mark... i checked it
there actually is no sound in some programs but there is in wmp and vlc player

Are you using onboard sound, a pci expansion card, or a usb model? If you were running an expansion card I would say reinstall that software in case the sound mixer portion was lost or corrupted somehow. You probably are only seeing some of the sound drivers active while others sit idle. Flashmute probably muted a portion of the Windows sound mixer itself. If you don't see anything disabled there a full reinstall will probably be the one thing to do.

You will have to go through the things you have running to see where the conflict is. The sound device listings in the DM may have to be uninstalled and then freshly detected for the reinstallation of the sound drivers. The first thing you will want to do is reduce the amount of programs starting along with Windows using the msconfig utility and then run a registry cleaner to remove any FlashMute leftovers that could be remaining.

Something currently running could be a leftover from the FM or another program installed that isn't closing out like it should. The links here are for a pair of free cleaners for the system registry. Try these first after using the msconfig utility to unload anything unnecessary in the startup group. Microsoft's RegClean and another freeware called RegCleaner seem to fix problems by removing stray entries.

i cleaned the registry with ccleaner and with that regcleaner and still nothing

i also cleaned with adaware and avg

there is no record of flashmute on my computer anymore...i think flashmute is not the problem cause i don't have sound in some games as well

You may have to remove all sound drivers with a right click on all device listings under sound and game controllers and allow Windows to redetect and reinstall what you need. Was there a sound mixer and speaker setting software along with the board drivers? It sounds like you need to wipe anything to do with sound and perform a total reinstall to get things working the way they should.

Often one program will have a driver conflict with another. In this case it sounds like something is clashing with sound there. Have you looked over the startups and reduced some of those with the msconfig utility? You could try removing Audacity totally for a fresh reinstall after when the sound is normal again. "Something is still on the system causing this if you have already tried reinstalling sound several times. That's likely to be a bad piece of software.
