No sound when playing DVD

I get no sound when playing a DVD in VLC media player. Windows media player doesn't even detect the DVD in the drive

Why does this pop-up on every DVD I own? I am pissed off, help plz?

this happens to me too, only with DVD's. I dont use VLC player, but wmp player. I do have sound but it is grainy and echoed, and I've tried so many codec packs to resolve it, but none seem to sort it out, i'm currently using k-lite codec pack alone. I also get this notice with alot of DVD's too. hope someone can help
