I am pretty sure this is a problem with my operating system:
None of my "temporary" items are being saved. For example, when I run iexplore, then restart my computer, "iexplore" is not in the list of run items (nor is anything else I ran).
However, without shutting down/restarting, the items are still in the list.
On Microsoft Word (or any other program for that matter), there are no "recent files," even when I do not shut down. For example, if I open a file, then go file>open again, that file is not in the recent files list (it is empty).
I have Windows XP Professional with SP2.
