No usb 2.0

The past christmas i was given a new pc.
The motherboard is an Asus P5S800-VM.
It supposedly features usb 2.0.
I havent really cared about that for a while because i use firewire for my ipod and i dont really have any need for usb 2.0
Today i got a fifth generation ipod which doesnt support firewire.
I have sp1 and 2 installed and the driver for usb 2 isnt there.
According to Asus, that is the only source of the driver.
Yet my computer still only recognizes it as usb 1.1
According to the store i bought it from, it is asus's fault.
According to Asus, its the retailer or microsofts fault.
Since neither asus or microsoft have near decent customer service,
i though i would come to you before fileing an RMA.
Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks,
Ethan

It tells me the driver has already been installed.
I have also tried changing the usb be speed in the bios to high-speed rather than full-speed and have checked for bios updates.
