My brother wants to install a PNY Geforce GTX 550 Ti video card on an ASUS P5G4IT-M LX series motherboard and gets no video. The motherboard is new about a month old and just bought video card about a week ago. Could it be the the VC is PCI Express 2.0 and the MoBo is lower....1.0 I think. He says the video card is suppose to backup to 1.0. Well he also upgraded the power system from 600 to 630 but went from 22A to 58A so dont think thats the problem. Pleases help with any suggestions. Thanks for looking.

Did you connect the 6 pin pci express power connector from the power supply to the video card?

checked the PEG setting in BIOS and still nothing he even disabled the on board graphics. He found websites in which people have the same combo and it works and this one wont. Craziness

What power supply has he got exactly? Make and model.

May be worth just reseating the card, just taking it out and putting it back in again.

Reset the CMOS and try again.

Unfortunately the common claim that PCIe is completely backwards compatiable isn't true. It is but only to 1.1a revision. Although very unlikely, this may be the issue. Actually looking into the mobo its not that old, so probably not an issue. Reset the CMOS by shutting down, switch psu off at switch (leave cable connected), remove CMOS battery, hold down power button for 30 secs to be sure caps are discharged. Replace all, then ensure you have the latest bios from ASUS. Set default settings, restart then go in and set all your settings again.

Then just ensure its seated correctly and that the VGA cable is connected properly.
