No video...

Alright, I've finally had a problem that renders it useless (currently at least). It rebooted, spontaneously, and now it won't show anything on the monitors, not event the POST. I know for a fact that its not the gfx card... I'm using that gfx card from the broken computer in the computer I'm using right now :P. Anyone have any idea of the cause? I'm wondering if its a mobo problem, I've had the spontaneous restarting problem for some time now, and through several hard drives a what not. I think I'll try swapping the memory but after that I'm out of ideas.

Not the memory (didn't think it was anyway)... but I know its doing something because it gave me the long error beeps because I didn't have the memory seated correctly at first... jumped half out of my seat cause my speakers were turned up a bit, lol :)

does the mbd have an integrated video card on it?
if so, even if you were using an extra video card, if the integrated on goes bad, it will cause the extra one not to work as well
also, try the monitor on another system or another monitor on this system

generally the reason for something like that ends up being the intgr. video

Nope, no integrated video anywhere, and to put to rest any other claims of video card error - i switched the Radeon 9600XT from the bad computer and am currently using it now in this "good" computer. I also took the Radeon 9600 from the "good" computer and put it in the bad computer to no avail. Can anyone think of a reason that it would still be the video card ;)?

well, i work for dell as a phone tech
don't have but a couple month's experience but i know that a lot of people who have the no video issue it ends up being the intgr. video.
that's why i was asking.
as far as anything else goes, i don't have any ideas at this time
i'll try to remember to look it up tomorrow

Thanks for the help anyway spazz :). I guess the next thing I'll try (unless someone else has any suggestions... anyone?) is to grab the PCI gfx card from my computer at work and try that. Blown AGP? I kinda doubt it because it doesn't sound like its booting to windows or anything... but like I said I'm running short on ideas :o

Edit: Also tried clearing CMOS... nothing :(
