No Video???

Hi all..

I have had lots of problems with my comp lately.. I have managed to fix most things.. I have just downloaded a film and when I came to watch it.. All I got was a black screen with Audio.. I have installed the video drivers( I think ).. I put in a XFX Cd in and whacked the drivers on there.. But still I cant see any video on NERO, Windows media, Realplayer and so on...

I hope you can help...

you need a CODEC. Identify the codec that you need and download it at freecodecs.com. Or download a codec pack if you play many different video formats.
 
Sometimes you can find large Codec packs on the internet that just have many of the most commonly used ones. That might be your best bet. I have also seen a few programs that tell you what codec you need. I can't recall any right off, though...
 
Either something's wrong with your video card / drivers or you downloaded the wrong codecs. What format is the video according to GSpot? Btw, try downloading Media Player Classic. It's handled most of the formats I throw at it.
 
Mabe the movie is just a black sreen? Mabe from a screw up of somesort, it could happen... Most likely it's the CODEX as many has said, or just corruption in your download.
 
The only way I can play video is by holding the on button until it turns off then to start the comp again. Then it works fine??

Very odd!!
